If you need food, come! If you can help out, come. On Thursday, March 9th from 5:00-7:00 (4:00 if you are working in the kitchen!) join us for our monthly Feeding America ministry. We will welcome over 250 folks to Grace, share a warm meal, and distribute over 8000 lbs of food along with laundry detergent and toilet paper. All are welcome!
Wednesdays in Lent
Join us on Wednesday evenings during the season of Lent (March 8-April 5) for supper at 5:45, Eucharist at 6:30 and a series on “Fierce Conversations” at 7:00pm. On March 15th we will welcome guest speaker, Rev. Jim Steen, former Canon for Ministries in the Diocese of Chicago, to speak on his experience training leaders and integrating Fierce Conversations into the parishes he served. On Wednesday, March 22 we will break from the Conversations to participate as a webinar site for Trinity Institute 2017, Water Justice. More information on the Institute linked here. Lent with Grace
On Ash Wednesday, March 1 we will begin the season of Lent with services of Holy Eucharist and the Imposition of Ashes at 9:30am and 7:00pm. The evening service will be preceded by a simple soup supper at 6:00pm to which all are invited. This season of forty days and forty nights invites us to a time of penitence, forgiveness and reconciliation. At Grace we will share suppers on Wednesday evenings and pursue “Fierce Conversations” through Wednesday night discussions at 7pm beginning March 8th with guest speaker, The Rev. Jim Steen, former Canon from the Diocese of Chicago on March 15. Grace will also be a Partner Site for Trinity Institute 2017 whose theme is “Water Justice.” The Lenten newsletter with more detail will link here. The State of Grace: Our Parish Annual Meeting
On Sunday, January 22nd from 5:00-7:00pm we will gather for a celebratory supper and Annual Meeting brought to you by our Vestry and Stewardship Commission. At this meeting we will elect new vestry members, endorse the 2017 budget, hear reports from the Rector and lay leaders, talk about our next steps as a parish and give thanks for all the gifts given and received in 2016. Supper will be served! Join us!
Christians Seeking Perspective on Immigration Law and Policy
Join us for this important conversation on January 11, 6:30-8:30pm at Hope Church, 77 W. 11th Street Co-Sponsored by Grace Episcopal Church, First Presbyterian Church and Hope Church, RCA. The community is invited to an evening of dialogue and education on immigration laws and policy. After a brief introduction about how Christian faith intersects with issues of public policy and immigration, Grace Church member, Sarah Yore-Van Oosterhout a former Social Justice Award recipient and Executive Director of Lighthouse Immigrant Advocates will share information about the law today and what we can expect in the months to come with respect to law and policy.
Christmas Eve with Grace
Join us on Christmas Eve as we celebrate Christ’s birth with festive services of Holy Eucharist at 6:00pm and 10:00pm. The early service will be a full Eucharistic service including prelude music and “Spontaneous Pageant” brought to us by the children and youth of Grace. Kids who would like to participate in the Pageant please arrive at 5:30 – costumes will be provided. Kids and youth who would like to offer music at the 5:45 prelude, contact Steve Jenkins or Debbie Coyle! Our annual traditional Choral Service of Carols begins at 10:00pm with the Christmas Eucharist starting at 10:30pm. All are welcome.
Advent Lessons and Carols
Join us at 10:30am on Sunday, December 18 for a service of Advent Lessons and Carols and Holy Eucharist. On Christmas Eve, December 24 we will celebrate with a ‘Spontaneous Christmas Pageant’ and Holy Eucharist at 6:00pm. Music by Grace children and youth begins at 5:45. An evening service of Holy Eucharist begins with Carols at 10:00. All are welcome as we celebrate the birth of our Savior with thanks and praise.
An Advent Youth Overnight
Start Time: Saturday, December 3rd at 6:00pm End Time: Sunday, December 4th at12:00pm
This season we watch and wait as we prepare for the coming of Christ. And so, Grace youth will gather, share a meal ( or two) play a little, create some stuff, make some music, pray a bit, and learn to look for stars in the dark. On Sunday morning at the 10:30 service, we’ll light the second candle on the Advent wreath. Bring your sleeping bag, toiletries, pjs, pillow, outside gear, and your musical instrument if you have one. (Instruments provided for those who do not.) Also, please print, complete, and bring the ‘Consent to Participate’ and ‘Medical Consent’ forms (available via email from the Church Office.) If you are bringing a guest, please pass these forms on to their parent(s) to be filled out and turned in when they come. BE SURE TO RSVP by Thursday, December 1st (earlier if you can!) to helps us with our planning. (FYI- Our rule is a minimum of four youth for a program to be a go. Hoping to surpass that by a bunch 🙂
St Nicholas Celebration
Grace will host our Diocesan St Nicholas Celebration on Saturday, December 10th from 10:00am-3:00pm. Our Bishop will be with us (and another special visitor too) as we learn about St Nick, play games, make crafts, share lunch and close the day with a kid-friendly service of Holy Eucharist. Friends are welcome! This is an INTERGENERATIONAL EVENT. Come join us for this learning and fun-filled celebration of St Nicholas!
Advent with Grace
Sunday, November 27th is the first Sunday of the Advent Season. Join us as we prepare this holy season for the coming of our Savior. For the four Sunday of this season, we gather in anticipation of the coming of Christ, lighting one candle on the Advent Wreath each week as Sunday services begin at 8:15 and 10:30am. On Advent 1 there is an Intergenerational craft project between services at 9:15. On Thursday, December 8th we will Feed America distributing over 8000 lbs of food and serving a hot meal to about three hundred people. On Saturday, December 10th from 10am-3:00pm we will host the Diocesan St Nicholas Celebration for all ages including teachings, games, projects and a kid-friendly service Holy Eucharist. On Sunday, December 18th we have an Advent Lessons and Carols at the 10:30 service. All are welcome at Grace as we gather together in anticipation and in hope.
Hurricane Matthew – Support for Victims
Episcopal Relief and Development provides a means by which to donate toward relief efforts following Hurricane Matthew here. And we pray, “God, please be with those who have been harmed by this hurricane. And help us to help them, our brothers and sisters.”
Oktoberfest and Stewardship the Musical!
Come celebrate our annual Oktoberfest, this Sunday, October 23rd from 5:00-7:00pm! There will be fabulous food, fun, cider, beer and the world premier of “Stewardship the Musical” brought to you by the Off 9th Street Players. Nursery and childcare provided. Join us as we kick off the Fall pledge drive and celebrate the ministries of Grace!
