ChurchNext – February Sunday Forums

During February, we’ll be exploring ChurchNext, an Episcopal online learning opportunity covering a variety of topics that have to do with living our faith.  We’ll watch and discuss “Becoming a Crazy Christian!” with Bishop Michael Curry on February 2nd.  “Welcome tofEpiphany,” with Sharon Ely Pearson on the 9th.  “Introducing Episcopal Worship,” with James Hamilton on Feb 16th, and “Taking a ChurchNext Class,” with Chris Yaw on the 23rd.  Grace members can participate in these classes individually at home too!  Come watch and learn how.  Forum Room at 9:15am – all are welcome!

Advent Sunday Forums

“Living a Life of Meaning” with Kathleen Norris on Sundays December 1st-15th at 9:15am.  On Sunday, December 22nd we’ll wrap the gifts we’ve been collecting for our Community Housing Partnership families.  Come join us!

Rise Up, Grace!

The 2014 pledge drive is underway!  This Sunday, November 10th Stewardship Commission will be hosting the Forum at 9:15 to present the vision and three-year budget and respond to questions as we look forward together. Stretch and grow with us.  It’s time.

All Saints’ Sunday, November 3rd

Happy All Saints’ Sunday! Come celebrate the Saints, baptize into the Household, and welcome those who have begun worshiping with Grace this year! Holy Baptism and Eucharist at 8:15. All Saints’ Intergenerational at 10:15. Holy Eucharist at 10:30 and our Newcomer Welcoming Brunch follows the second service. Join us!

Oktoberfest 2014!

Sunday, October 26th, 5:00-7:00pm:  Great food and beverages – including pork loin, cauliflower gratinee, salad, vegetarian lasagne, apple pies and pumpkin cheesecake! Jazz by the Hope College Jazz Team.  Beer.  Cider.  Capri Sun! Nursery, food and activities for kids.  Come celebrate Grace ministries as we launch the Fall pledge drive!  It’s tons of fun.  Sponsored by the Stewardship Commission.

Falling Upward

Wednesday, October 30th at 7:00pm. Led by Rev. Jen Adams.  Join us for dessert and discussion on the book, Falling Upward by Richard Rohr. Rohr is the founder of the Center for Action and Contemplation and in this book he, “offers a new paradigm for understanding one of the most profound of life’s mysteries: how our failings can be the foundation for our ongoing spiritual growth. . .how the ‘firsts’ of life are actually stepping stones to the spiritual joys that the second half of life has in store.”  All are welcome.

Join us Sunday, September 29th

Our Guest Preacher this week will be Radha Deitenbeck, a Hope grad, Grace member and applicant for the priesthood in our Diocese.  Services at 8:15 and 10:30 with Education Hour at 9:15.  Adult Forum features the third in a three week series, “What I Did Over My Summer Vacation”.  This week’s speakers will be Hope Professors of Music, Brad Richmond and Brian Coyle speaking on the summer class which they taught that involved touring English cathedrals and studying the folk and choral traditions of England, including the church’s tradition of Evensong. The high school class and any adults who would like to join will explore, “This Episcopal Life.”  Middle schoolers, elementary and preschoolers continue participating in the curriculum “Weaving God’s Promises”.  All are welcome!

Come Feed People!

Join us Thursday, September 11th!    No matter the weather, the doors will be open and food will be shared.  Please be here on the 11th to help welcome people, offer a warm meal and distribute over 7500lbs of veggies, baked goods, meat, and dairy.   Last month we hit a record number 194 families served.  Be here to welcome into the building (4:30,) set up distribution tables in the parking lot (4:45), unload the truck and distribute food (5:00-6:30).  If you are hungry come receive food.  If you are able to help out, come help out!  There us something for everyone to do!

Grace Flicks (a.k.a. The Return of Movie Night)

Back by popular demand!  Join us Wednesday, September 11th for drinks and snacks at 5:30, with movie, pizza and discussion at 6:00.  Our first movie will be “The Way” starring Martin Sheen.  Movies will be shown on the second Wednesday of the month and participants will help in the choosing. Bring a snack and drinks to share and a few dollars for pizza.  See you on the 11th!
