CHILDREN'S FORMATION

AGES FOUR THROUGH FIFTH GRADE

Like any growth, spiritual growth begins with care, intention, nurture, and support. At Grace Episcopal Church that care and intention, nurture and support begins in community and in our programs that foster growth, becoming, compassion, and belonging. Whether it is through the Godly Play program, Summer Sundays, multi-generational gatherings, or experiences in worship, we strive to equip our children with the tools, experiences, and space to imagine, wonder, and grow into the unique and perfect reflections of God that they were created to be.

GODLY PLAY

Godly Play is Grace Church's method of spiritual formation for children to explore the mystery of God’s presence in our lives, engaging what is most exciting about religious education: God inviting us into - and pursuing us in the midst of - Scripture and spiritual experience. The Godly Play practice teaches us to listen for God and to make authentic and creative responses to God’s call in our lives.

Godly Play is a creative, imaginative approach to Christian formation and spiritual guidance.

Godly Play has a Montessori foundation with 40+ years of research and practice.

Godly Play values process, openness, discovery, community and relationships.

Godly Play models the worship life, stories, symbols and rituals of Christian congregations.

Godly Play allows practitioners to make relevant and personal theological meaning.

Godly Play nurtures participants to larger dimensions of belief and faith through wondering and play.

The Godly Play program gathers every Sunday from September through May at 10:30am in the Godly Play Space.

GOING DEEPER WITH GODLY PLAY

We know that it can be a big "leap" into something new and unfamiliar, so we invite you to check out the Godly Play link below for more information or reach out to Director of Spiritual Formation, Rev. Christopher Roe, who will be happy to connect with you and your family.

Summer

Sundays

During the summer months, running from Memorial Day through Labor Day, children gather for weekly lessons centered around simple stories, response activities, and extracurricular activities that we do not always get to enjoy during the formal "church program year."
