Grace is a dynamic community of faith grounded in Episcopal tradition, welcoming all, and serving Christ through worship, spiritual growth, and compassionate care for one another, the community and God’s world.
In Baptism, we begin a new life of grace and service and make promises to God and the broader Christian community. In the case of infant baptism, we make promises for ourselves and on behalf of our children. Baptism is our primary sacrament of full initiation into Christ’s Body the Church. These promises – a key part of the baptismal covenant – are quite meaningful and point to the heart of what it means to be a Christian.
Christian education and formation should help us live into this baptismal covenant while also broadening and strengthening us as community. At Grace, we want to intentionally connect our Christian educational offerings to those baptismal vows and so for the upcoming year, our programming for all ages will revolve around its content and teaching.
The full vows of the Baptismal Covenant Episcopalians make are found on p. 304 of the Book of Common Prayer.
