Pastoral Care
Our mission is to provide support within the parish family through caring, nurturing, and healing ministries. At Grace, Pastoral Care is seen as one of the most important things we do as people of God - being present in times of crisis or transition, or simply responding to the call to gather as a prayerful community.
The Pastoral Care Commission ministers in many different ways. Click on the links above to learn more about each of these ministries: Freedom Village / Appledorn communities, funeral reception service, home communions, meal ministry, prayer breakfast, prayer shawl ministry, prayer chain, St. Martha's guild, and Stephen Ministry.
New Ministry: Support for Unemployed/Underemployed:
Are you someone who is currently unemployed or underemployed? Know that you are not alone! Several Grace parishioners came together in September and plan to continue gathering on the third Thursday of every month from 9:00 - 10:00 am for bagels, coffee, networking, and sharing ideas. Jen Adams will facilitate this group which meets in the new Adult Forum space across from the church offices. Join us on January 21, February 18, March 18, April 15 and May 20. Please spread the word to anyone whom you know would benefit from this group.
HOME COMMUNION
For those in the Parish who for whatever reason are unable to attend church, Pastoral Care offers a way to make arrangements for a Home Communion service. Offering a home sacrament is our way of sharing with those who for various reasons are unable to attend Sunday Eucharist a sense of community and Christ’s presence. Where ever they happen to be in their daily lives we meet them through the Eucharist in Christ’s name.

MEAL MINISTRY
There are many times in life when being overwhelmed with the cares of illness, hospitalization or other cares weigh on our families and one we can way to reach out is to share a meal.
Please contact the church office at 616-396-7459 if you need a meal, or if you would like to donate your time and culinary talents in support of this ministry.
Monthly Commission meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, to coordinate Pastoral Care ministries. Contact Chris Broersma through the church office at 616-396-7459 for further information.
