Mission Statement: We encourage the development of a life in Christ in the children, youth and adults of Grace Church through spiritual awareness, knowledge and action. Sunday morning education hour runs from September through May and meets at 9:15am. There are classes or forums for all ages. Detailed information is found below. Additional educational opportunities take place throughout the week, newcomer classes are offered annually, and youth groups (info elsewhere on this website) meet on the first and third Sundays from 6:00-7:30pm from September through May. Nursery and Childcare (Infants to age 3) Located in the Children's Commons - lower level across from the Office. Care is available from 9:15 to 11:45am. A professional childcare person is on staff and present each Sunday. The following programs run from September through May. TLC- The Little Children (3yrs-preschool) This class meets in the preschool room on the second floor. The TLC curriculum explores stories told in the Montessori style, teaches liturgical colors and seasons and includes reflective crafts. Parents are asked to serve with their kids as "helpers of the week." Episcopal Kids (Kindergarten - 2nd grade) Episcopal Kids (3rd - 5th grade) These two classes begin at 9:15in the Undercroft classrooms. The Episcopal Children's Curriculum is both Biblically-based and liturgically oriented. Biblical stories and themes provide the content of teachings and practice while students are also encouraged to learn the words and actions for participation in our community's worship and liturgy. Lessons from Scripture and selections from The Book of Common Prayer are incorporated into every lesson. Middle School (6th - 8th grade) This class begins at 9:15 in the Undercroft Youth Room. The Episcopal Youth Curriculum for younger youth runs through a three year cycle of Call, Covenant, and Community. Youth explore the stories of those who have been called by God, the trials and tribulations of people of faith, and the blessings and challenges of covenant life from the beginning of Scripture through to contemporary times. High School (9th - 12th grade) This class begins at 9:15 in the Upstairs Tower Room (just off the commons). The High School class will take a topical seminar approach to study. The class will include discussion, reading, and critical thinking activities as they explore themes and people in the Bible. In addition, they will be encouraged to participate in several Adult Form classes on topics of the changing environment and on issues relating to both the local and the global community. Adult Forum The Adult Forum meets in the Undercroft at 9:15. |
